Rhinoplasty | 1 WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SURGERY?

On the day of surgery you will admit to the hospital 2 hours prior to surgery. Dr Ritz will see you to discuss the procedure again and draw pre operative markings on you. This procedure is performed under general anaesthetic. You will have a consultation with the anaesthetist prior to going into surgery.

Rhinoplasty | 2 WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AFTER THE SURGERY?

After your rhinoplasty surgery, it is normal to experience mild to moderate pain. Swelling and bruising are also present on the incision site. These discomforts are expected and will disappear in a few weeks. You may also feel that your nose is stuffy or congested. A special gauze will be placed inside your nose to prevent bleeding. A splint will also be applied to your nose bridge to support the area. This will also reduce swelling and will help maintain the new shape of your nose as it heals. To reduce any discomfort, you will need to take pain relievers and anti-inflammatories.

Rhinoplasty | 2 POST OPERATIVE CARE

Depending on what you do for work you will require anywhere from 2-6 weeks off. You are unable to drive for the first 2 weeks. You are also limited with physical activity, including heavy lifting and going to the gym which you cannot do for the first 6 weeks. You will be given detailed post operative care instructions prior to surgery.
